Diarrhea in dogs
Diarrhea in dogs
Diarrhea is a common
symptom in dogs. Mostly bowel syndrome ejected when dogs eat things that should
not be eaten. But sometimes diarrhea is a sign of more serious diseases such as
Carré and Parvovirus.
Some causes of common diarrhea such as stress, sudden change of food, too much food leftovers ...cause severe diarrhea but the dogs can recover quickly.
Adult dogs have diarrhea
sometimes can bet food; they empty
stomach for 12-24 hours, the instestine have time to rest and the inflammation
has enough healing time. If the dog seems to be drowsy, lethargic or fatigue
while fasting, you can give it glucose solution or apply honey on their gums
and bring the dog to the veterinary clinic immediately.
One of the serious problems
of diarrhea is dehydration. Dehydration is draining from the body, often including loss
of both water and electrolytes and minerals. Due to the water loss in stools
and dogs go without food or drink. Fever also increases water loss. The disease
becomes serious if the dog does not drink enough water to compensate for the
loss. Other causes of dehydration are dog’s vomit and diarrhea. When
dehydrated, the skin will have undulating ripples. Other signs are dry mouth,
sunken eyes, collapse and possible death.
Rapid rehydration: By oral
electrolyte solution C-electrolytes for dogs
to drink or not to drink, electrolyte solutions for use in the bottle or
syringe (without the needle) injected into the dog's cheek. Use 1 - 2 ml / kg
body weight / hour depending on more or less dehydration. If diarrhea is
accompanied by vomiting, the administration will do more to stimulate the dog
to vomit more, so the dog has to be infused.
Puppies under 8-10 months
of age often have an infectious disease than adult dogs. If the dog has any of
the following indications, think about the dangerous cause of diarrhea: Carré,
Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Lepto, Giardia, E.coli, Salmonella, ... such as black
stool with mucus fibers; sticky smell, bloody smell; containing erythrocytes;
Diarrhea associated with vomiting; seems much pain while pushing. Fever,
appetite loss, haggard.
In order to correctly
diagnose, a number of necessary tests
must be carried out, pay attention to stool test because intestinal parasites
are often primary causes for the dogs digestive diseases. Some infectious
disease caused by a virus for which there is no specific treatment. However,
antibiotics can be used to control diarrhea, infection development prevention.
